July 5, 2014

July 5: Reunion. Inaugurated by Duccio Caccioni, marketing & quality manager CAAB Bo, the new permaculture vegetable garden of the School.

Taste and sustainability: these are the keywords behind the design of an organic garden of Alma. The inauguration marked the opening of the last day of the 2014 Reunion in the large garden of Villa Guastavillani. “The garden – as explained by Duccio Caccioni, marketing & quality manager CAAB – Agrifood Centre of Bologna – will be cultivated according to the method of permaculture, which enhances biodiversity by combining different plant species, but they can be complementary, and avoids any pesticide treatment, even those permitted by the regulations of organic farming.

Many different native and medicinal plants have been included, wild but not usually grown, along with some flower essences that keep insects away.

The garden has an area of 200 square metres. The forecast of production is a ton of products within 12 months and will be used to prepare the dishes of the school’s restaurant.
