February 23, 2015

The Master in Business Administration from the Business School of the University of Bologna is the first Italian MBA receiving the EPAS accreditation, issued by the European Foundation for Management Development.

The Bologna Business School has received the EPAS accreditation for the Global MBA, its Master in Business Administration that attracts young professionals from all around the world and shapes them into leaders able to guide the international growth of “Made in Italy“. The mark recognition released by EFMD, the leading international system for the accreditation of business schools, endorses the high quality standards of the Global MBA program.

The Global MBA is a full-time program taught in English. The program has attracted students from over 80 countries, reaching 94% of placement within the first six months of the end of the program. Every year about 70 students come to Bologna to attend the Global MBA. The program is divided into three blocks: general management, concentration specific course from which students can choose  (design / fashion / luxury goods, food & wine, innovation management, sustainability and green management, corporate finance and China / Europe business relations), and a practical project work with leading companies.

Academic accuracy and practical value are the guiding principles of EPAS, an accreditation which is not only a moment of evaluation but a process of quality improvement, driven by international standards identified among the best business schools in the world. These criteria are related to the institutional environment, the bonds with the business world, the student assessment process, the originality and consistency of the educational approach, the international dimension, the qualifications of the faculty, and the career progression of the Alumni. The accreditation process of the Global MBA at BBS lasted over two years, including set-up work, meeting with the team of evaluators and the resolutions by the international authority.
“We have a mission: to contribute to the development of Italian companies, starting from the small industries which are getting closer to the global market. The training of human resources is a requirement to compete in this challenge, which we want to do at the same level of the best business schools in the world. This is a great achievement, considering the different resources available to us, but for us it is only a first step. Starting from today, we are working on the accreditation of other programs and the whole School, “said Max Bergami, the Dean of Bologna Business School.

Elisa Montaguti, Director of the Global MBA and marketing professor (with a PhD at London Business School and a previous expericen at Insead) couldn’t conceil her fulfillment: “This news fills me with joy and confirms the great job done by a large team to create a high quality program, able to bring our students and businesses to excel in the world”
