In the last few years, something new has happened in higher education: more and more young people choose to attend a Master’s after their 3-year degree course, rather than continuing with two more years at university, wrote Rosamaria Sarno in an article published in the Harvard Business Review.
This trend has become consolidated with the economic crisis: for many, newly graduated or already working, the Master’s is a concrete chance to gain access more quickly to the labor market.
There are different reasons that push them to take this decision, in the first place the wish to learn practical applications of their study subjects as well. Indeed, Master’s courses give you the chance to challenge yourself, effectively measuring yourself up to companies’ needs, by way of project works and case-studies. One of the aspects that is more attractive for applicants is precisely the close contact with businesses: this way participants hope to increase their chances to find a job consistent with their studies. It’s a known fact that the percentage of those who find a job after attending a Master’s is high and steadily growing, thanks to the value that this qualification adds to every C.V. and the opportunities it offers to interact with structured companies, always on the lookout for competent, new resources.
